Mail Art Monday: Great Expectations

January 7, 2013 in Mail Art, Slideshow

I’m finally recovering from the lurgy that’s held me hostage since New Year’s Eve, and am back in the driving seat. I won’t go on about making New Year Resolutions and promising to blog more this year… that’d just be setting myself up for a fall, and I don’t want blogging to become a chore. I should blog more often, but then I should be doing a lot of things that I never seem to have the time or energy to implement. So, I’ll just say that I hope to blog more in 2013 – and to do some blog-worthy stuff! I don’t think you’d really want to hear about my ‘The Inbetweeners’ marathon on Netflix, or how I managed to hurt myself 3 times this morning just walking into the office. Or would you?

Anyhoo, this week I have only one outgoing Mail Art package to show, but thankfully a handful of creative and colourful incoming pieces to share with you…

Mail Art Monday: Adventures

June 18, 2012 in Mail Art, Slideshow

The rain is still here (*sigh*), but a faux summer has been brightening up my mailbox. Here’s a roundup of both the outgoing and incoming art this past week. OUTGOING Niklas Heed sent me an envelope a couple of weeks ago covered in some great artistamps, and enclosed some postcards inside as ‘filler’. I assured him that I’d be able to put these cards to good use, and here’s the result! It made its way over to Niklas in Sweden in super-quick time. Carina Granlund received this CD case insert, which arrived rather battered and bruised – only the centre circle made [...]

Mail Art Monday: Jubilation

June 4, 2012 in Mail Art, Slideshow

This week has ended with lots of parties and celebrations, with Union Jacks coming out of our ears. And, thankfully, my mailbox has woken from its slumber, with a number of exciting and inspirational pieces arriving. So without further ado… OUTGOING Jessica Gowling and Jeannine Saylor, both in Canada, received these Jubilee themed packages, packed full of Union Jacks, newspaper clippings and stickers. The main ingredients, though, were the medals featuring the official Diamond Jubilee logo, and engraved on the back with their names. The girls were really pleased with these, and I’m so glad they arrived just in time [...]

Mail Art Monday: Playing Catchup

March 19, 2012 in Mail Art, Slideshow

I missed my Mail Art Monday post last week because things were just too manic to be able to photograph and write as well as I wanted to, so this week I have quite a few incoming and outgoing pieces to share with you, and lots more still on their way to new homes around the world. OUTGOING Jeannine Saylor (@saylor_made), fellow disciple of ‘Mail Art Queen’ Jessica Gowling, kindly agreed to be Mail Art friends with me after I contacted her on twitter. Her parcel took so long to reach her that I believed it to be long lost and forgotten, but [...]

Mail Art Friends

January 20, 2012 in Mail Art

A package has finally arrived from the wonderful Jessica Gowling (@jessicagowling), and I never get bored of that excited feeling I get before I open her mail art. She’s always stupidly busy with all of her printmaking, exhibitions and the many other mail art pen pals she has, so I’ve been waiting patiently since August for another package full of loveliness, and she didn’t disappoint. With her new vintage typewriter, Jessica wrote a lovely note onto the title page of Sleepy Hollow (I’m sure I have a typewriter somewhere… to the attic!) Among the mixed ephemera was a selection of flash [...]
