As many of you will know, I’m a member of Gwynfa Camera Club, the largest camera club in Wales. Last Thursday, as part of the summer events held over the holiday period when ‘official’ club meetings stop, we had a Mini Photomarathon. Another Gwynfa Camera Club competition topic, ‘By Night’ had me stumped for a while, and I didn’t think I’d be getting anything in on time. At around half 11 the night before submission date, I left my pint (attended, of course) in the pub and ventured into the nearby churchyard in a desperate, last-ditch attempt at finding something useable. A wander around a dark cemetery later, and a frantic session with photoshop, and I had my entry! Huzzah! This one got me a 16/20.

This month’s competition at Gwynfa Camera Club was to ‘illustrate a book title’, and I saw this as my chance to sneak some Lego into the mix and see what happened. The other members had been asking when some Lego would show up, as is my reputation, so I set to work. With a little bit of Minifigure frankenstein-type mixing and matching, some atmospheric lighting and a little blood added in photoshop I created… ‘American Psycho‘. This evening I (briefly) visited the opening of the Photomarathon Exhibition 2011, where a hell of a lot of photos were to be seen, and drink to be drunk. Unfortunately I was banned from partaking in the latter due those pesky kids painkillers, so I’ve made a quick exit after the judging. My ‘Movement‘ photo got a red sticker, which apparently means the judges liked it. 12 hours well spent then
